| Q. |
What should I pack? |
| A. |
Definitely bring suncream, sunglasses and camera! Life on the boat is generally informal and you'll need nothing more than a couple of swimsuits, shorts and tshirts. If you intend to visit mosques or churches then you mustn't wear short sleeves or shorts and ladies will need to cover their hair. Please don't bring suitcases, they are difficult to store on a boat. |
 |
| Q. |
Which airport should I use? |
| A. |
If your Gulet leaves Marmaris you should fly to Dalaman airport which is around 1.5 hours away. Alternatively, you can fly to Bodrum airport which is around 3 hours by coach. If your Gulet leaves Fethiye you should fly to Dalaman airport which is around 1 hour away. |
 |
| Q. |
Are transfers to and from the airport included? |
| A. |
We will be happy to arrange this for you. Once we know your flight schedules and number of people in your party we can let you know the price by car, minibus or coach. |
 |
| Q. |
Do I need a visa? |
| A. |
Usually British, US and European citizens need an entry visa which can be purchased on arrival at the airport. But please check latest news with your airline. |
 |
| Q. |
What will the weather be like? |
| A. |
April, May and October temperatures range between 20 and 26 degrees centrigade, so remember to bring a light sweater or fleecie for the cooler evenings. July and August are the hottest months with temperatures reaching 35 degrees. It is not humid and you are unlikely to see rain in the midst of summer. |
 |
| Q. |
What currency should I bring? |
| A. |
Most turkish businesses will take British Pounds, US dollars and Euros in cash or travellers cheques. You can easily change these currencies into Turkish lire at any of the currency exchange offices. Although cash points are commonplace especially in larger towns. |
 |
| Q. |
Are we allowed to sleep on deck? |
| A. |
We would highly recommend you sleep at least one night under the stars. You can take your bedding from your cabin. But beware there is a fairlyy heavy early morning dew. |
 |
| Q. |
I'm a vegetarian. Will I have trouble with the food? |
| A. |
Not at all, just let the Captain know at the start of your cruise. Turkish food is varied with some fabulous salads and vegetable dishes, cracked wheat and rice mean you won't get bored. For those of you who like fish, you'll have a real treat! |
 |
| Q. |
I don't like spicy or hot food. Will that be a problem? |
| A. |
Turkish food is generally subtly flavoured with herbs and spices, so you shouldn't have a problem at all. Equally, if you like some extra heat just let the Captain know! |
 |
| Q. |
Do I need Air-Conditioning? |
| A. |
The choice is yours, but you should understand what this means on a Gulet as this isn't explained by most operators. |
 |
| |
Some boats will have air-conditioning systems and people assume this means it's available in the Cabins and Salon at anytime of day or night. On a boat, the a/c can only run when the generator is on, or in a harbour when connected to 220volts. Usually you will anchor overnight in a small bay, often next to a neighbour who doesn't like the noise of your generator and you probably wouldn't like the noise during the night either. |
 |
| |
So most of the Captains have come to a gentleman's agreement not to disturb each other. A/c will be used on most of the boats for a maximum of 2 or 3 hours in the evening to cool down the Cabins in the hot summer months. |
