Turkish Cuisine |
| |
| |
All of your meals are freshly prepared by the cook and you'll surely be in love with Turkish food by the end of your cruise. You will find we have a varied kitchen with food from around the Mediterranean. |
| |
You will be served with 3 meals a day, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner plus afternoon tea. If you have special dietary requirements then just let us know before your cruise, or if there are certain foods you don't enjoy then please tell the Captain and he'll ensure the cook prepares something equally delicious for you. |
Whilst on board, your day will start with a traditional Turkish breakfast enjoyed by families in homes across the country. This delicious breakfast consists of local white cheese, similar to Greek feta, eggs, salami, olives, slices of cucumber, tomatoes, local honey, butter and jam, fresh bread and of course hot Turkish tea or çay. |

Enjoy a light lunch at mid-day or early afternoon. Mezes (or starters) may be Dolma (vine leaves stuffed with rice, pine nuts and herbs), a peppery tomato salad or Patlican Puresi or Salatasi which is locally grown zucchini (aubergine) pureed and served with thick and creamy yoghurt as an accompaniment. Your main course could be Yesil Fesulye Sotesia, sauted green beans and tomatoes served with vegetables and fresh salads. Your table is never without a constant supply of fresh bread helping you to savour every last mouthful of the savoury sauce. Fresh locally grown fruit will help you to finish your meal. |

After such an exhausting day, most passengers manage to drag themselves to the dining table for afternoon tea and biscuits. If you're very lucky you may even have cake specially baked by the cook or even the Captain! |
| |
Dinner is often fish, meat or chicken. Maybe a meat casserole or kebab enhanced by herbs and spices which are used liberally to delicately flavour Turkish cuisine. Served with rice, pasta or Bulgar Wheat, bread and large salads followed by seasonal fruit. |
| |
| The menus are fixed however the cook will endeavour to meet special requests and dietary needs |
Local drinks are an excellent accompaniment to your meals, although these are of course available throughout the day. Turkish wine is reasonably priced or maybe you prefer locally brewed beer and local spirits. No holiday can be complete without the famous Turkish Raki, an aniseed flavoured drink taken in a small glass with ice and water. |
| |
There is also a selection of refreshing soft drinks including fruit juice, freshly made lemon ice tea, cola and of course Turkish Apple Tea. |
| |
We operate an honesty drinks system which is payable at the end of your cruise. Many of our guests prefer to have an inclusive drinks package which includes local spirits, wines soft drinks and water for a reasonable set fee. |
